The Choice Studios is a private, home-based nail studio in Croydon.
For data-protection purposes, Marie Thomas, trading as The Choice Studios, is the data controller.

I only collect information that I reasonably need to manage your appointments, provide appropriate nail services and run the studio.
This may include your name, email address and telephone number; booking, appointment and payment information; your nail history and service records; messages or enquiries you send to me; and photographs taken for professional records or marketing where applicable.
Before your first appointment, I may also ask for information relevant to deciding whether a nail service is suitable for you. This may include allergies, sensitivities, medical conditions, medication and previous reactions to nail products.
Health information is classed as special category personal data and receives additional protection under data-protection law.
I use your personal information to manage bookings and appointments; process and record payments; assess whether a service is appropriate; tailor your nail care; communicate with you about appointments, aftercare or your service; maintain appropriate business and service records; respond to questions, complaints or disputes; and meet legal, tax, insurance or regulatory requirements.
The lawful bases I rely on depend on what I am doing.
Contract applies where information is needed to arrange or provide a service you have requested, including bookings, payments and service-related communication.
Legal obligation applies where I need to keep or use information to meet a legal requirement.
Legitimate interests may apply where I need information for reasonable business purposes, such as maintaining service records, handling complaints, protecting the studio against claims or keeping the business secure, provided those interests do not override your rights.
Where consultation information includes health data, I use it only where relevant to assessing the suitability of the service. I rely on an appropriate Article 6 lawful basis and explicit consent as the special-category condition where applicable. Explicit consent must be expressly given rather than assumed.
Where I ask to use photographs for marketing, I will ask for your consent separately. You may withdraw that consent for future use.
I do not sell your personal information.
I use trusted services to operate the studio. These currently include Google Workspace and Google Sites for business email, forms, documents and website services, and Square for payments, subscriptions and appointment management.
If you choose to contact me through WhatsApp or Facebook, those services will also process information you provide through their platforms.
Information may also be shared where reasonably necessary with professional advisers, insurers, payment providers or authorities where I have a legal obligation or legitimate reason to do so.
Square acts as a processor for some information handled on behalf of Square sellers and states that it uses appropriate safeguards where seller data is transferred outside the UK. Google also uses recognised safeguards for international transfers where required.
I keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.
Booking, payment and business records may be kept for the period needed to meet tax, accounting and other legal requirements.
Consultation, suitability and service records may be kept for the duration of your client relationship and afterwards where reasonably required for insurance, complaints or legal claims.
Photographs used only for marketing will no longer be used for future marketing if you withdraw your consent.
Enquiries and other information that are no longer needed will be deleted or securely disposed of when there is no continuing business, legal or regulatory reason to retain them.
I take reasonable steps to protect the information I hold and limit access to it.
Client information may be stored in services such as Google Workspace and Square rather than on paper or local studio systems.
I do not receive or store your full payment-card details. Payments are processed through Square.
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to ask for a copy of your personal information, ask for inaccurate information to be corrected, ask for information to be deleted, ask for its use to be restricted, object to certain uses of your information, request data portability where applicable, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
Some rights are subject to legal exceptions, so they may not apply in every situation.

If you have a concern about how I have used your personal information, please contact me first so I can investigate it.
Email info@thechoicestudios.com and use Data protection complaint as the subject where possible.
I will acknowledge a data-protection complaint within 30 days, investigate it without undue delay, keep you informed where necessary and explain the outcome. These complaint-handling requirements have applied to organisations since June 2026.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulator for data protection.
Cookies and similar technologies are small pieces of information that websites and online services may store or access on your device. They can be used to make a website work, keep it secure, remember settings or understand how a service is being used.
The Choice Studios website is hosted using Google Sites.
Google may use cookies and similar technologies to provide, maintain and secure its services and may process information about how its services are used. Google explains that its technologies can be used for functions including service delivery, security and analysis.
The Choice Studios has not enabled Google Analytics on this website.
I do not currently add my own advertising, marketing or behavioural-tracking cookies to the site.
If Google Analytics or another analytics or marketing tool is introduced in future, I will review this policy and any consent or objection controls required before enabling it. Google Sites supports a separate Analytics connection, which is currently not enabled for this site.
The website contains links to third-party services including Square, WhatsApp and Facebook.
If you follow one of these links, you leave The Choice Studios website and the third party may use its own cookies or similar technologies under its own privacy and cookie policies.
For example, Square uses cookies and similar technologies for security, core functionality and analysis, and may use additional technologies subject to its own consent controls.
Where Google or another service displays cookie controls, you can use those controls to accept or reject optional cookies.
You can also manage or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how a website or third-party service works.
I may update this Privacy & Cookies page if the way I collect or use personal information changes, if I introduce new website tools, or if legal requirements change.
